So as you can see the prompt for Day 1 is White Christmas (snow, lights, decorations). I decided that I would go for some Xmas lights to kick off the challenge, so I started by painting my nails with Nail Essentials Silver Shimmer, which I then topped with Color Club Si Vous Please (a subtle, twinkly, irridescent glitter). Once dry, I added some fine black lines for the light cable with LA Colors Black Velvet using a striping brush. I topped this all with Seche Vite and then added in the rhinestones while the Seche was still wet (had to be pretty quick to keep up with the Seche, even one nail at a time!).
Impractical though these are, I do like them! The glitter gives the silver a textured effect which I wasn't expecting but really like, and I chose colours for the lights which are a little non-traditional but I think that they work too!
Take a look at all the other Tarts' festive fingers by following the links below, and I will be back with a Winter Nature mani for Day 2 soon :)
You did an insanely awesome job! :) I half expected them to actually light up. :) (I came via the link up at Sparkle Queen's place.)
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! Great to know that the link party is working too :D
DeleteI love these so much!! Such a smart idea, mind if I ask where did you get the rhinestones from?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I got them from Ebay ages ago. I bought about 5 wheels of random colours and shapes and get them out every now and again when I want to try something different :)
DeleteThese are lovely and original <3
ReplyDeleteThanks Paulina :)
DeleteWhy are they impractical?
ReplyDeleteI really love the lights over the textured silver, it really makes them pop more! Thanks for being part of the first ever Best Of: Nail Art party :)
And thanks for setting it up - such a great idea!!! They're impractical because unfortunately the rhinestones catch on everything. I think I'll have to give up cooking and house work etc so I can keep them on - shame eh??? ;)
DeleteHaha that would be quite the life!
DeleteHave you tried applying thin layers of quick dry top coat over the rhinestones? I usually do that, and almost never have any rhinestones pop off, and I'm pretty rough on my nails.
I tend do that if I'm going out somewhere special, but as I'm currently painting either my own nails or other people's maybe 4 or 5 times a day, they don't get to stay on that long so there's no point fixing them! I've kept a full set on for a week with little dabs of nail glue before so I think I'll do that for my Xmas Day nails :)
Deletethis is deena from deevine deezine, these are sooooooooo gorgeous!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deena! :)
DeleteThis is really pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marisa :)
