NCC Neon Month - #4 Neon flames

Hello everyone! Hope your week is going well. I have had the results back from my recent surgery and the results were mostly good, but with a catch that I was hoping to avoid, so I'm trying to distract myself with a ridiculous amount of work and nail painting!!!

This post marks the end of my first month with the Nail Challenge Collaborative and its been so much fun. I'm so happy that I was able to join this group and have loved creating the 4 different neon manis.

I got a bit stuck creatively with this last post. I didn't want to do another abstract, or more flowers, but I can honestly say that I have no idea how I ended up settling on cartoon-style flames. But there you go - that's where my brain took me, and who am I to argue??? :)

I started with a base of Nail Essentials Silver Shimmer (a lovely smooth silver with full coverage in two coats that creates a great base for the neons). I added in the lower, orange part of the flames in LA Colors Spat! with a striping brush, then added another layer of flame above that with LA Colors Absolute. I separated the colors and outlined the flames using LA Colors Black Velvet and my trusty striping brush and finished with Seche Vite.

As I said before, I don't really know where this idea came from, but I'm pleased with it. It has a pop art, cartoon-ish feel to it :) I nearly went over the silver with a neon blue to go for full brightness (!), but was overruled by my daughter...

Don't forget to take a look at all of the other neon manis by following the links below - there is a new NCC challenge for July and I will be back with that in a couple of weeks. Bye for now :)
