The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents "Around the World" #2 - Northern Lights

Hello everyone! I will admit up front that I was struggling with inspiration for this one. Then it got even worse! I had what I thought was a great idea and then realized that translating that idea on to nails was going to be a bigger challenge than I had hoped for!!!

So, I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights. My husband has promised to take me to the Norwegian fjords one day so I can see them, but I'm guessing that won't be any time soon! So, why not go for a Northern Lights mani instead?!?

I followed the basic principles of a galaxy mani, but chose as different set of colours and tried to keep the light effect more linear. The base is LA Colors Black Velvet, over which I sponged some French White, then a combination of LA Colors Flicker, Mint and Electra. I added a coat of Sally Hansen Twinkle Twinkle to add a starry effect and topped, as always, with Seche Vite.

I would have liked them to come out a little more like the real thing and a little less like galaxy nails, but they're still pretty and caught a fair bit of attention when I went to the supermarket with them on :) 

Two down, two to go for this "Around the World" month. I'm fast running out of inspiration for this theme, but I will not be defeated! Rah! Check out all the other fab ideas using the links below :)
