Girly Girl Challenge Day 3 - Delicate and Elegant

Hello everyone! And we're back with Day 3 of the Girly Girl challenge. The theme for this week is "Delicate and Elegant".

I've had a week of nail disasters, the most obvious one can be seen in the photos below! When I was just doing this as a hobby, it wasn't too hard with daily cuticle oil and other lotions and potions to keep my nails and cuticles healthy and moisturised. As soon as I started doing it for work too? O M F G. My nails are snapping, cuticles dry - all causing a massive unhappy face. I'm getting to grips with sorting them out, but I'm having to completely rework how I look after my nails!

For some of my upcoming challenge manis I've used a false nail to cover the broken middle nail, but for this one that wasn't an option. I was just playing around with some colours and this design happened - I was so pleased with it that I decided to just roll with the broken nail, and hope that the art distracts from it! Lol!!!

I started with a base of Nail Essentials Silver Shimmer, then painted on the leaves with a striping brush using Revlon Sassy, LA Colors Mint and NYC High Line Green. The flowers are made up of  LA Colors Edgy, Electra and Pink Bubbles, and Nina Ultra Pro French White.

I've filed all the others back so its a little less obvious, but there's only so much you can hide something like that! I haven't worn any enhancements or false nails for over 4 years and promote growing out healthy, natural, strong nails to my clients, so I'm going to stick with it as is. If I can come up with some designs that work better for short nails - so much the better!

I've loved taking part in this challenge -  as I said at the beginning, I don't really do the girly thing, but I've discovered a new love of painting flowers and I'm enjoying thinking outside the box a little :)

Check out the lovely nails by all the other participants and check back next Friday for the next theme - Inspired by the Runway. Between you and me (and the rest of the internet!), I have this one ready already. It was a total no-brainer as I've been desperate to do nails inspired by my favourite design house's S/S collection :)
