Got Polish Challenge "Something Tropical" and NAILS Mag April Challenge "Pink"

Hello everyone! Today I am combining prompts again! The Golden Oldie Thursday challenge wanted "Something Tropical" while NAILS Mag wanted "Pink" so I combined the two and here's what happened!

I started with two coats of Jessica Purple Burst and waited for it to dry. I then stamped some hibiscus flowers from an old BM plate on to each nail with Konad white. I added in a little more detail with some white acrylic paint, used Color Club Psychedelic Scene for the pollen, Color Club Pucci-licious (thinned with a little acetone) for the petals and Barry M Gelly Greenberry for the greenery, before finishing off with another coat of Seche Vite.

I think that I also deserve a cheer this week for remembering to use only old polishes! The last couple of weeks I realized as I typed up my posts that I may have forgotten the central point of the challenge (oops!), but I made sure this week that they are all well over a year old and despite the fact that its both pink and flowery (two of my least favourite things!), I actually think that this turned out pretty cool :)

Tomorrow's prompt is "Inspired by your favourite nail artist". I'll be honest and say that I hate this kind of prompt. I always feel like I'm copying (even though I always give full credit - I'm a good girl!), and I would much rather be doing my own thing. Still, I'll have a go and see what happens!

Tri Polish Tuesdays April #1 - Yellow, pink and blue!

Hello everyone! Here comes today's catch up post! As expected, the school holidays have sent my blogging and painting schedule completely out of the window! Having OH home for a week as well also makes for constant interruptions so I really didn't stand a chance! Never mind, onwards and upwards!

Today (or yesterday) sees the start of another colour combination for April and this time its yellow, pink and blue. I chose a simple sponged rainbow using Models Own Lemon Meringue, and LA Colors Aquatic and Pink Bubbles and finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

I'm really loving this retro tie dye effect that is created by sponging just a few colours together!

I'm off for another round of Minecraft tutorials/cake pop making/7 year old nail painting (delete as appropriate!) and I will be desperately trying to have tomorrow's GOT Pastel mani ready on time!

Tri Polish Tuesdays - February #1 - Hello brown, pink and grey!

Hello everyone! A new month and therefore a new colour scheme today for the Tri Polish challenge! For February the colours are brown, pink and grey. I chose these colours as I was trying to think of something a little different, and as I started to think about all the shades available, some really interesting colour palettes sprung to mind!

I've gone with all Color Club for my first February mani, starting with three coats of Positively Posh. I then added two flowers to each nail in diagonally opposite corners using She's Soooo Glam and Silver Lake. I then added a few curvy lines of graduated dots to complete the look and finished with Seche Vite.

I think these are cute, despite the fact that I've used colours that I usually steer clear of. I also hadn't used many of my Color Clubs for a while and I have since used the excuse that today is my birthday to go online and order a ton of new ones!

I'll be back with another spin on these three colours next Tuesday and in the meantime, take a look at all the other Tri Polish Tuesdays manis by following the links below :)

NAILS Mag 31DC Day 22 - Accent Nail

Hello everyone! I have a very quick post for you today as I have been unbelievably busy with real life (meh!). The prompt for today is "Accent Nail" so I took the opportunity to try out some new Orly polishes that I won in a Christmas Nail Art competition!

For the four plain nails I painted three coats of Orly Pink Waterfall and then added a coat of Orly Pixie Powder before topping with Seche Vite. For the accent nail, I painted three coats of French White and added roses using the Orly Pink Waterfall, French White and LA Colors Edgy and the leaves using LA Colors Mint, Revlon Sassy and Sinful Colors Exotic Green. I finished with Seche Vite.

These Orly colours are beautiful, there is another one in the set, but I'll save that one for another day.

Its strange, but to me these nails look plain! I'm so used to full-on nail art that an accent nail seems very understated! I do really like this look though, so will try and incorporate it more often, especially when time pressure is on!

I have some more manis from this challenge on the way (another catch up post so I'm not posting more than once a day unless absolutely necessary!), and plenty of other nail art from other current challenges. Not all of the manis from this challenge will get their own post though, so if you would like to see them, hop on over to Instagram or Facebook to have a look :)
